Professional Associations

ACUI→ The Association of College Unions International (ACUI) is designed to congregate college unions and activity coordinators. ACUI brings professionals together in various conferences and seminars in which individuals can educate each other on community building practices. Members of ACUI prioritize building safe, inclusive, supportive, and entertaining communities throughout their institutions. ACUI membership for students is free, and membership for professionals is $200. I was fortunate enough to have attended an ACUI region 7 conference in November of 2019. It was a very wholesome experience because I was able to connect with many professionals and student leaders like myself.

NASPA→ NASPA is a large organization for student administrators for higher education. NASPA congregates professionals on an international level. NASPA has over 15,000 members. This organization offers a variety of regional, national, international conferences, and allows student affairs professionals to discuss their practices and topics concerning student development. Members of NASPA have access to publications like the Journal of Women and Gender in Higher Education, conferences, events, etc. NASPA membership for professionals is $75 and $37 for graduate students. NASPA’s mission includes advocacy for student success, social justice models, inclusion, professional development, and research.

NODA→ NODA is the Association for transition, orientation, and retention. NODA encourages professional development, learning, and leadership opportunities while encouraging diverse perspectives. NODA prides itself on the constant use of research and knowledge to better its practices. This allows NODA to employ modern theories and ideologies. Membership is $60 for undergraduate and graduate students, while professional membership is $180. NODA membership allows for professional development opportunities, conferences, seminars, and networking opportunities with fellow peers.
